This witty musical comedy examines relationships, ideals, and the search for independence through the lens of class separation.

On the brink of adulthood, two best friends anticipate their coming of age. Lay Kim, a typical Hokkien Chinese girl, has set aside her moving-away plans to take care of her parents’ failing food stall. Liz, the English-educated daughter of a well-to-do restaurant chain owner, has decided that she wants individuality apart from her family and peers.

Along with their respective brothers providing humorous perspective, the girls reflect on their formative years to find answers to their problems. Lay Kim begins sifting through past conflicts that affect her sibling and her friendships, while Liz desperately looks for ways to achieve her apparently superfluous goal. As they go along their individual journeys, the girls begin to question the strength of their friendship against the strength of their own personal desires.
